CHARACTERISTICS OF YOUR GARDEN SPACE

Now that you have your objectives of starting the garden, let us put some basic thoughts to how to get started.

Consider the space you are going to grow your garden. Is the garden going to be either
• Indoor or
• Out door
Or is it going to be a vertical garden.

Is the space fully shaded or is it partially shaded or gets maximum sunlight. This will be very important for your choice of the plants.

Consider the soil characteristics. Will they need drainage, do they have a hard pan that may need deep digging to break?
Check the orientation of the area with respect to sun light and winds as this will affect your plants when planted. A north south orientation gives maximum exposure to the sun.
